Constructing Body Paragraphs

Standard: 
W.11-12.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content. 

Obj: I can write an informative essay to examine complex ideas, concepts, and information dealing with themes in transcendental literature through effective selection, organization, and analysis of content. 

EQ: How does transcendental and anti-transcendental literature create themes dealing with identity?

Starter: 

Switch outlines with a partner.
Read the thesis statement and the evidence for each body paragraph.
Let your partner know whether or not the evidence/point aligns to the thesis statement.
Provide thorough feedback as to why it does or does not match the thesis.

Read and take notes on creating thesis statements.
This will be helpful for the next activity. 

3.  Outline 

You will receive a hard copy of the outline to be completed.
At this point, you only need to focus on the body paragraphs. 
Do NOT worry about the introduction and conclusion section. 

Evidence should be your point sentence/ your claim.
The details are your examples that support the claim. 
The quote should be taken from the literature you are analyzing.
The last two are your elaboration and analysis.
Reminder: All of your ideas should connect to the claim in your thesis statement.

Your outline should be completed by: Thursday, September 20.

4.  Constructing Paragraphs

Using the ideas from your outline, create complete TPEQEA paragraphs for your essay. 

Closure: 

How confident do you feel writing introductions and conclusions?
We will focus on this on Tuesday.
