Gatsby Chapter Eight

EQ: Analyze how Fitzgerald's choices contribute to the overall structure and meaning of the Great Gatsby.

Starter: 

Fitzgerald references color numerous times throughout the Great Gatsby.
Reflecting on Gatsby's character throughout the story, identify a color that represents him?
Use the chart below to identify a color and explain your rationale.

This quote should come from chapter eight. 

Individually, rotate to each table and react to the quote. 
Make sure that your responses are meaningful and reflect critical thinking.

Unpack the quote.
"The locality was always vaguely disquieting, even in the broad glare of afternoon, and now I turned my head as though I had been warned of something behind.  Over the ashheaps the giant eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg kept their vigil, but I perceived, after a moment, that other eyes were regarding us with peculiar intensity from less than twenty feet" (Fitzgerald 124). 

Explain the meaning of the quote.

In 3-5 sentences, connect the song to the Great Gatsby.
