Gatsby Chapter One

 RL.11-12.5 Analyze how an author’s choices concerning how to construct specific parts of a text contribute to its overall structure and meaning as well as its effect on the reader.

EQ: Analyze how Fitzgerald's choices contribute to the overall structure and meaning of the Great Gatsby.

Starter: 

Interactive Standard Notebook 

Unpack the standard RL 11-12.5.
You can work with a partner to put it into your own words and then complete the prior to unit reflection.  You should circle the number and write a one sentence reflection.

Then, if you did not complete the end of unit reflection for standard RL 11-12.6 fill that in.

1.  Presentations
            You are expected to create an engaging presentation to share with the class.
            While each of you present write down 3 facts about the topic.
          You may put these on a sheet of paper or in your Google Drive.

2.  Quiz. Quiz. Trade

Create a question that you have based on chapter one of the Great Gatsby and write it on an index card.
Meet with at least three people during the quiz, quiz, trade, answering each others questions. 

3. Watch The Great Gatsby

As you watch the film version, compare and contrast it to the original F. Scott Fitzgerald version.
(We will watch the first ten minutes.)

4.     Gatsby Chapter One Graphic Organizer

With a partner you will create a spider map for the first chapter of The Great Gatsby.
Include THREE details for each topic.
